December 25, 1997 marked
the day of the birth of F.O.C.U.S. (Followers of Christ Upholding
Standards) In August of 1997, God gave the vision of F.O.C.U.S.
to Wayne Ravenell. Wayne then organized a group of the city's
best, vibrant, gifted, and anointed young adults.
The group was comprised of approximately 20 members- a
collective group from different ministries of various denominations.
Although their style of music was different. It returned
an over-whelmingly positive response from their community.
As a result, God gave them favor with pastors and leaders
in their city, which allowed them to open for every major
recording artist that came through their city. Some of
these artist include: God’s
Property, Trinitee 5:7, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, Dorinda
Clark-Cole, Karen Clark – Sheard, Byron Cage, Natalie
Wilson, New Direction, Alvin Slaughter, Overseer Hezekiah
Walker, Sha’ Simpson, Tye Tribbett & G.A. and
also blessed to tour with Anthony
Hamilton on his '06 tour.
Over the last 8 years, the group has experienced many transitions
and transformations. In August 2005 Wayne Ravenell passed
the mantle to his successor. Minister Michael Brown. Since
the inception of the ministry, Michael has served as the
music director and assistant to Wayne. He is presently
the national Minister of Music of the Life Center Ministries
Fellowship Inc., which is under the leadership of founder
and overseer Bishop Brian D. Moore. Under the direction
of Minister Brown, F.O.C.U.S. has expanded to F.O.C.U.S.
Outreach Ministries, which is comprised of several evangelical
and outreach entitles.
In March 2005, F.O.C.U.S. recorded their first live project, “The
Heart of a Worshiper”.
While the style of music on this project is creative,
musically expressive, and versatile, it still reflects
the heart of a worshiper. This group of vivacious, colorful
and unique Levitical priests intends to reconcile souls
to God through a radical and innovative praise and worship
experience, while yet being examples of holiness and
righteousness as Followers of Christ Upholding Standards.
This dynamic independent group released their 3rd Project entitled Good Time on 2012. (Heart of A Worshiper, 2005), (Sound of Victory 2008) Proving consistent to the “sound” that Mike Brown & F.O.C.U.S. produces, featuring Tasha Cobbs (“Yes Lord”), Timiney Figueroa ("What A Friend”), and Josiah Martin (“Angel’s Cry”), this project is equipped with songs and music for everyone from your Praise Team to your church choir, and everyone in between. The lead single “Excellent”, hailed as “the next praise and worship anthem”, is a lively declaration, sure to be heard in churches by praise teams and choirs across the body.
