Danielle Wilson and The Truth



Danielle Wilson has always been exposed to gospel music; her mother played the organ and her grandmother was the choir director at the Bibleway Missionary Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. Of all the music styles Danielle has been exposed to, Gospel is her most favorite.

Danielle's vibrant and powerful voice has afforded her a wide variety of opportunities over the course of her young adult life.

The spring of 2001 lead the beginning of a three-year stint with Jazzland Theme Park where Danielle played the lead role in their production of Jazz, Jazz, Jazz, a song and dance program depicting the charms of New Orleans history and culture.
Then it was her audition with music Ellis Marsalis for the jazz studies program at the University of New Orleans; he told her she "had a great instrument."
After a time at UNO, Danielle was invited to participate in Xavier University's "Music-Vocal Performance" degree program that affords her a broader approach to vocal music.

September 2007 - Selected to perform at the Kennedy Center in the first ever 105 voice choir for the 105 Historically Black Colleges and Universities, which included a solo performance

Career skyrockets - in her senior year Spring 2009 - Lead role in locally produced production of Mahalia! Mahalia! Where Danielle performed the songs of Mahalia Jackson, the first Queen of Gospel Music, and received rave reviews.
April 2009 - First performance with Jamalar Agency's Spirit of New Orleans Choir at the 26th annual French Quarter Festival Summer 2009 - First international tour with Spirit of New Orleans choir to Spain, which included a few of her own shows featuring a repertoire of Old Gospel Spirituals. December 2009 takes Danielle Wilson on a 9-city tour of Italy and the release of her first recording project that is a tribute to Mahalia Jackson.

Performs often with the Joyful Gospel Choir for local convention gigs. Now that Danielle has graduated from Xavier University, New Orleans with a Vocal Performance degree, she is more able to focus on her career as a much sought after vocalist, making appearances in various New Orleans musical productions and concert tours.

On tour with her first Cd Reflections of Mahalia.
