The Chicago Mass Choir was founded in 1988 by James C. Chambers, and it is part of the ECC Music Workshop. Their debut album was issued in 1991; that year they were named
Best New Artist at the
Gospel Music Excellence Awards. In May 2011 they recorded the
XV Live Album, recorded live at the TBN Studio Auditorium in Hendersonville, Tennesee

Concerts and tours: The choir has often concerts at the Chicago Gospel Festival, the French Quarter Festival in New Orleans and the Staple Center in Los Angeles. In Europe, they have toured since 2003 in Switzerland, Croatia, Italy, Greece, Germany and since 2011 in Spain.

Director Percy E.Gray Jr. 2005 Stellar Award Winner, Grammy, and Dove Award Nominee is considered to be one the nation's most outstanding gospel music producers and songwriters. To his record, he has written over 200 songs and produced over 50 albums for various choirs and artists in the United States. The music of Percy E.Gray Jr. can be heard daily on major gospel radio stations throughout the United States; and numerous gospel choirs abroad are viewed on Youtube singing songs composed by Percy Gray Jr.
Percy has written for nationally recognized gospel artists throughout the United States that include: Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, Mississippi Mass Choir, Rev. Milton Brunson & The Thompson Community Singers, Albertina Walter, Chicago Mass Choir, Jessie Dixon, New Direction, Beverly Crawford, Joshua's Troop, Dorothy Norwood and Shirley Caesar, just to name a few. He is truly considered to be a "living legend" of gospel music.
