Sin dalla sua esibizione, nel 2002, al Blues Estafette di Utrecht in Olanda, Sharrie Williams ha catturato l’attenzione di tutta Europa.
I suoi concerti dal vivo sono incredibili; performer impres-sionante dalla straordinaria forza vocale, possiede un naturale dono che utilizza con una grazia e una sensibilità che rendono omaggio alla grande artista femminile rock e blues che è senza mai essere imitativa, in poche parole, Sharrie Williams è una vera e originale artista “Rockin’ Gospel Blues”.

Ascoltarla è una pura delizia ma dal vivo lascia senza fiato, con la sua radiante presenza scenica e la sua avvincente voce cattura l’ascoltatore, la sua immaginazione e i suoi sensi; attraverso ogni nota riesce ad esprimere tutte le sue emozioni, dalla tristezza al puro divertimento fino a trasportare il pubblico in ritmate danze.

Cresciuta in Michigan, la sua infanzia è circondata interamente dalla musica e dal canto.
“Mia zia e mia nonna erano delle cantanti jazz, mio fratello un cantante gospel/jazz e i miei genitori cantanti gospel…la nostra casa era come un Juke Joint…cantavamo, danzavamo e suonavamo blues…gustandoci pollo e patatine fritte…”
Ancora dodicenne inizia a cantare con il famoso coro di Williams Temple e, sotto la direzione di Hubert J. Williams, si esibisce con Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, Shirley Caesar, The Winans e James Cleveland; il suo incontro con Marion McKinnie la rimette in discussione immergendola in una vasta formazione vocale, dal Jazz al Gospel, dalle esibizioni live al teatro, arrivando così a combinare il canto alla recitazione in una perfetta simbiosi.

Nel 1997 si unisce alla band The Wiseguys iniziando così ad esibirsi regolarmente nei Blues Clubs di Chicago e, successivamente, intraprendendo un estensivo tour che toccherà anche la Germania, registrando numerose acclamazioni dalla critica per indimenticabili shows a festivals e clubs quali Poconos Festival, Blues Bash of SC, Buddy Guys Legends, Utrecht, Peer…giusto per ricordarne alcuni.

Durante questi anni realizza Real Woman, Live at Wiseguys e, nell’aprile 2004, con l’etichetta tedesca Crosscut Records, Hard Drivin’ Woman il lavoro che, grazie alle sue accattivanti performances e al sound roccheggiante, la porta sulle scene internazionali, attraverso l’Europa e gli Stati Uniti e le apre le porte al mercato discografico essendo uno dei Cd più venduti del periodo.

Inizia così la sua ascesa: intraprende un tour europeo con la band attraverso Germania, Francia, Svizzera, Belgio, Olanda, Svezia, Lussemburgo, Africa, Spagna, Portogallo arrivando fino in Italia; appare sulle testate nazionali ed internazionali quali Big City Blues, Living Blues, Juke Blues, Soul Bag, Block, Il Blues, German Blues News, Rollin & Tumballin e collabora con famosi artisti quali Dizzy Gillespie, Buddy Guy, Larry McCray, KoKo Taylor, Bobby Blue Bland, Joanna Conner, Delbert McClinton, Debra Coleman, Shemika Copland, Charlie Musselwhite, Taj Mahal, Honeyboy Edward’s, Solomon Burke, Lazy Lester, Larry McCray e Ron Price.

Nel Gennaio 2007 firma il contratto con l’etichetta canadese Electro-Fi Records con la quale realizza I'm Here to Stay, registrato ad Ann Arbor (Michigan) e prodotto e mixato da Michael Freeman, si rivela un grande successo internazionale che riporta in tour Sharrie e The WiseGuys.
