is a ball of energy.
Her gospel tinged vocals are powerful and full of emotion.” Chicago Tribune

she can do no wrong. Peaches is having so much fun on stage
it effects the crowd and pretty soon everybody is jamming.” Daily Southtown - Cleveland

“Chicago’s best and only
legittimate rub-board player.” New City - Chicago
Peaches Staten is
a product of the Mississippi Delta. Though she was born in
Doddsville, she grew up in the mix of the thriving Chicago
Blues scene. Her stepfather was a disc jockey for several
of Chicago’s swank westside
clubs and her mother was a member of social club that threw
parties where all the well known blues musicians hung out.
This petite blues dynamo started her musical career unexpectedly
while working as a waitress at Mama Rosa’s blues club
in Chicago.
Peaches has shared the stage and recorded with some of the
best in the music business, such as Buddy
Guy, Robert Plant, Junior Wells, Lonnie and Ronnie Brooks,
Koko Taylor, Keanu Reaves (Matrix), Katie
Webster, C.J. Chenier, Chubby Carrier, Buddy Scott, Dr. John,
Melvin Taylor, Sugar Blue, Lurrie and Carey Bell, Bob Stroger,
Willie Big Eye Smith, Huey Lewis, Homesick James, Valery
Wellington, Sandra Hall, Billy Branch, Carl Weathersby, Johnny
B. Moore, Willie Kent, Eddie Fingers Taylor, Pinetop Perkins,
Eddie Shaw and a host of others.
She regularly lights up the stage at B.L.U.E.S.
in Chicago with her versatile singing style and her powerful wash-board
technique. Early in her career she was featured on many all
Ladies Blues Reviews with Chicago Veterans
Bonnie Lee and Karen Carroll. Backed by Willie
Kent and the Gents. They
regularly packed the house at the popular Chicago Clubs Wise
Fools Pub and Blue Chicago. She sang to a sold out room at
their recent show with daughter of the blues Shirley
King and the popular Big
Time Sarah.
PERSONALE: Peaches sings

group Maluko Samba and Phil Baron and Jump City. She’s been
touring Europe since 1996 with one of the best Italian Blues
guitar player, Nick Becattini.
INFLUENCES: Bessie
Smith, Lavern Baker, Cassandra Wilson, Tina Turner, Billie
Holiday, Howling Wolf, KoKo Taylor, Janis Joplin and Bonnie
Raitt just to name a few.
SONGWRITING: She has written
many originals but only recorded five of them: “La
Ye Yo”, “Save Me”, “I’ll
Be There For You”, “You’re So
Good To Me”, “Lets
Do It Tonite”.
On her upcoming CD there will be some interesting originals
to be heard.
NAMESAKE: Peaches has been
the singers nickname ever since she was a baby in the Delta
and believe it or not, Peaches is her favorite fruit.
MEMORABLE EXPERIENCES:
Without hesitation Peaches recalls: “It
would have to be my first time up on stage. I was working
part-time as a waitress at Rosa’s, and I met a woman who has
since become a friend of mine-asked me, “Do you ever
sing?”I said “Yeah,
when no one’s around.”
She
stated that because of the sound of my voice, I could probably
sing blues. We continued talking and shooting pool since
it was my off day. After a couple rounds of pool and Tequila,
I found myself on stage ad-libbing with Buddy
Scott and The
Rib-tips (Nick Becattini was in that band).
They were the
regular monday nite jam session. It was hilarious. I had
no idea what I was doing, making up words as I went along,
but the crowd loved it. They were shouting “More,
more! After that night I never had stage fright again. And
now whenever my friend attends one of my shows , she teases
me and demands credit for launching my career.”
VIEWPOINT: Peace, Unity
and Respect!
PRESENT PERFORMANCES: She’s currently touring with
Nick Becattini, they’ve been knowing each other for
over 12 years. She says: “Nick
and I met in Chicago during the period when I wasn’t singing. We have a
lot of history together. He has seen the Before and the After.
Of my singing career Nick and I had our first performance
together back in 1992 In Chicago . We entered the Benson
and Hedges Blues competition at the legendary Buddy Guy’s
Blues Club. We have been touring together since1996 and have
made great progress in both our friendship and in our music.”
